Stained Glass Care and Handling

Stained Glass Care & Safety Guide

Thank you for supporting handmade stained glass art 💛
Each piece is individually crafted and made to last for years with proper care. Please review the guidelines below to keep your stained glass looking beautiful and to ensure safe handling.

Routine Cleaning

  • Gently dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • For deeper cleaning, lightly dampen a cloth with water or a mild glass cleaner.
  • Wipe gently and dry immediately with a clean cloth.
  • Use Pledge as a polish if desired.

Avoid

  • Abrasive cleaners or scrub pads
  • Soaking in water
  • Dishwashers or submerging
  • Harsh chemical cleaners (especially ammonia-heavy products)

Stained glass is soldered and assembled by hand, excessive moisture can weaken joints over time.

Display & Hanging Tips

  • Always use a secure hook, nail, or wall anchor rated for the weight of your piece.
  • If using a suction cup, ensure it is heavy-duty and rated for stained glass (standard suction cups can fail).
  • Meant for display indoors.
  • Keep away from high-traffic areas where it may be bumped.

While stained glass is durable, it is still glass and can break if dropped or struck.

Temperature Considerations

Stained glass tolerates normal indoor temperature changes well. However:

  • Avoid sudden extreme temperature shifts.
  • Do not expose to open flames or high heat.
  • For maximum longevity and to preserve its appearance, we recommend displaying your piece indoors.

Important Safety Disclaimer (Lead Content)

Our stained glass artwork is assembled using lead-based solder. While the lead is solid and safe for display purposes, please review the following precautions:

  • Wash hands after handling stained glass.
  • Do not allow children to handle or play with stained glass pieces.
  • Keep out of reach of pets.
  • Do not place stained glass in areas where food is prepared or consumed.
  • This item is intended for decorative use only.

Lead exposure is primarily a risk through ingestion or prolonged handling without washing hands. When displayed and handled responsibly, stained glass is safe for decorative use.

If you are pregnant, nursing, or have health concerns regarding lead exposure, consult your healthcare provider before handling.
